An honest conversation about being punk and cis
Kaitlyn: fucking tom gable man, holy shit.
Me: I know!
Me: I feel like it's bigotted or something to be shocked.
Me: BUT
Me: I'm shocked.
Kaitlyn: well, yeah.
Kaitlyn: the presentation was very, uh, i dunno, butch beforehand.
Me: Maybe she wasn't presenting before. Maybe she was just going with the body she had until she was ready to come out.
Me: I dunno.
Me: I don't really know how it works.
Kaitlyn: think its fucking rad though.
Me: IT'S SO FUCKING RAD.
Kaitlyn: i'm really pysched to see against me! as a girl-fronted band.
Me: And honestly, for someone like me, who is supportive by not necessarily exposed very often to trans people, it's really good.
Kaitlyn: yeah, since against me! was like, your idol band.
Me: Like, recognizing my own subconscious biases, I'm really happy that a band that means a lot to me has a trans singer. Not to make this about me, because it's not, but I think it's good.
Me: I hope it's good for a lot of people.
Kaitlyn: yeah.
Me: I dunno. I hope that's not shitty.
Kaitlyn: its not, i don't think.

Just heard Space Gallery in Portland is hosting the What Cheer? Brigade on Sat., Sept. 10. Here’s a snippet of their appearance at the Machias Blueberry Festival a couple of years ago.

I saw them later that night at the Blackfly Ball, and have seen them a few times since. The show at SPACE is going to be awesome. I LOVE What Cheer?.
